Fulfilling Promises, Fueling Futures: Dr. Joseph Mubang Delivers School Band Instruments, Textbooks, Medical Equipment, Giant Screens, and Cash Prizes to St. Frederick Mubang College Mankon – Celebrating Academic Excellence and Honoring Pa Frederick’s Enduring Legacy in a Joyful 2022 Prize-Giving Ceremony.

In a joyful culmination of academic excellence, family legacy, and community generosity, philanthropist Dr. Joseph Mubang (Founder and CEO of the JF Mubang Foundation) once again demonstrated his unwavering commitment to education and youth empowerment at St. Frederick Comprehensive High School (also known as St. Frederick Mubang College) in Mankon, Bamenda.

On June 1st and 2nd, 2022, the school hosted vibrant socio-cultural activities to mark the close of the 2021/2022 academic year and the annual prize-giving ceremony organized by the Ex-Students of PCC Mubang Mother Branch. These events celebrated the hard work and achievements of meritorious students while reinforcing the institution’s role as a pillar of moral and intellectual formation in the region.

Dr. Joseph Mubang was a distinguished presence at the celebrations, actively supporting the benefactors in awarding cash envelopes to outstanding students as prizes and incentives for continued excellence. In a heartfelt address to the assembled students, staff, parents, and alumni, he announced the fulfillment of a prior promise he had made to the school. He had delivered a comprehensive package of donations, including:

  • A complete set of school band instruments to enhance extracurricular activities and cultural programs,
  • A substantial collection of textbooks to significantly strengthen and modernize the school library,
  • Essential medical equipment for the school’s infirmary to improve student health and emergency response,
  • Several giant screens for educational presentations, assemblies, and visual learning enhancements,
  • And additional resources to support overall school infrastructure and student welfare.

Mr. Michael Mubang, the Proprietor of St. Frederick Comprehensive High School and a key figure in the Mubang family legacy, publicly testified to receiving these items. On behalf of the entire school management, teaching staff, and student body, he expressed profound gratitude to Dr. Mubang for his “generosity” and ongoing dedication. He emphasized how these contributions directly advance the vision of their late father, Pa Frederick Mubang, who founded the school to provide quality education rooted in discipline, faith, and community service.

The two-day festivities concluded on a warm, unifying note with a shared common meal, a cherished tradition that fostered fellowship, strengthened bonds among students, alumni, and supporters, and symbolized collective appreciation for the year’s accomplishments.

This event built seamlessly on Dr. Mubang’s prolific philanthropic momentum in early 2022—including major healthcare donations to St. Blaise Catholic Hospital, facilitation of First Masses for newly ordained priests, parish support in Njimafor, and contributions to the Episcopal Ordination in Mamfe Diocese. By investing in St. Frederick College, he honored his family’s educational heritage while equipping the next generation with tools for success in a region facing ongoing challenges.

In doing so, Dr. Mubang continues to embody the guiding principle “To whom much is given, much is expected,” transforming promises into tangible progress and inspiring hope through sustained support for learning, culture, and youth development in Bamenda.
